How will you breathe today?

Air pollution plays a role in worsening symptoms and exacerbations in COPD. Pick your city; we compare current particulate matter levels against World Health Organization guideline thresholds and show a cautious suggestion for the day.

European Air Quality Index

WHO 24-hour guideline value: PM2.5 15 µg/m³ · PM10 45 µg/m³

Good
A suitable day to spend time outdoors. You can do the walking or breathing exercises your physician recommends outside.
Fair
Generally no problems are expected. Choosing side streets or parks over main roads during rush hour is still a good habit.
Unhealthy for sensitive groups
COPD places you in the sensitive group. Consider shifting long or strenuous outdoor activity to cleaner hours of the day and keeping windows closed during heavy traffic.
Unhealthy
If possible, postpone strenuous outdoor activity and prefer staying indoors. If you notice increased breathlessness or a change in cough or sputum, consult your physician.
Very unhealthy
Minimising time spent outdoors is advised. Keep taking your medication exactly as your physician prescribed; if your symptoms increase noticeably, seek medical care.
Hazardous
Staying indoors unless necessary is advised. If your breathlessness increases even at rest, or if there is bluish discolouration, confusion or difficulty speaking, seek emergency care without delay.

Has your breathlessness increased recently?

You can measure your breathlessness with the mMRC scale, then check your pre-eligibility for COPD balloon therapy.
